Firstly, a big welcome to any new members that have joined for this season. Your membership packs will be sent out soon.
Secondly and very importantly, I hope that you’re all keeping well and healthy. We are a club and as such, each and everyone of us is part of a big family, (whether part of that family has a better CdA or not…. 😉 ) everyone is of equal concern at the moment and I would like to wish everyone all the best in getting through this odd time.
Finally, Colin at Shutt VR has opened up a new portal for our lovely club kit so that when we’re allowed back out to ride and race together we can all look our best. It’s similar kit to what was on there before, which has had a great reception, but with some new additions including an awesome and well priced Gabba jacket, a lightweight long sleeve jersey and some t-shirts that Shutt have made themselves (separate design to the membership ones). We’ll close this portal on Sunday 19th April to give everyone a couple of weeks to order. As with all small companies, Shutt could do with a nice hug at the moment so if you fancy a bit of new kit, get in on this order. As a club member we also get discount on general Shutt kit (details through the link below) so if you want a variety then go right ahead, we use this company because they genuinely work hard for us and their kit speaks for itself.
Many Thanks and all the best,
Holly Carter (Pres)

There is a delicious christmassy menu provided and the cost is £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses.
See you all there!
We have set up some instructor led wattbike sessions at the National Cycling Centre on Wednesday evenings at 7pm (thanks to Mike and Holly!) At the moment we have sessions booked in until 11th December but if there is interest we will try and continue them in to the new year.
It’s £5 per session and there are only 12 spots available each week so it will be club members only for now.
Register your place by going to the specific session on the rides list and click signup!
Thank you to everyone who came to the Manchester Wheelers Brickworks Hill Climb last night, another classic edition.
Special thanks to all who helped. These events don’t happen on their own, so if you liked what you saw, join a cycling club, get involved, don’t wait for it all to come to you.
Massive thanks to the sponsors – Shutt VR for awarding some seriously good cycling clothing, and Beerstork for supplying some seriously good beer prizes. Both of these companies do great things, and they’re well worth checking out if you’re after technical fabrics or a dose of hops. .
Thanks too to Bspoke for keeping us all pepped up with excellent coffee, and Pott Shrigley village hall for hosting us yet again in their great space. Thank you to Alan Gibworth for taking photographs of the event.
Bring on hill climb season!

HILL CLIMB SEASON IS COMING! Yes you heard correctly. Thurs 29th August. You bring the legs,we bring the pain!
Yep, it’s Brickworks time. Prizes available from Shutt Velo Rapide, Rare Mags and BeerStork, not to mention the internationally coveted brick trophy for the winners!
For Wheelers members the Club Hill Climb Championship is up for grabs (can Jack Johnson defend his title…!?), however all are very welcome to enter, not just club members.
It’s a slightly earlier start this year of 6:45pm due to the popularity of previous years but don’t worry we’ll leave sign on open beyond the start for any latecomers.
And as usual the bar will be open afterwards!
If anybody is available to help with sign on, push off, taking photos etc please let Dan or Martin know.
It’s with sadness that we pass on the news that life member Harry Whitehouse passed away on Friday last week, 2 August. Harry joined the club in 1950 and was one of the star road racers and time triallists during the following decade.
Harry’s funeral will be on Monday 19th August at 13.00 at Blackley Crematorium, Victoria Avenue, M9 8PJ.
Those attending are invited to The Woodthorpe Hotel, Bury New Road, M25 1PY afterwards.
