Club events & results / Brickworks Hill Climb Thurs 30th August
« on: August 15, 2018, 11:01:01 PM »
We're doing the Brickworks Hill Climb again this year on Thursday 30th August.

We've got the bar at Pott Shrigley Village Hall and there will be prizes donated by Rapha and Rare Mags. It's going to be great!

So there will be no hill climb series this year, just this event and the quickest 1st claim wheeler will get the hill climb trophy at the the annual dinner.

The event will also be eligible for points in the club scratch and handicap champs (club 10 series) due to no Cat & Fiddle event this year.

Sign on will be from 6:15 for a 7:01 start.

Better stock up on the the slim fast!

Club events & results / Club Championships - Open 50 21st July
« on: July 05, 2018, 07:04:15 PM »
Reminder that the Club Championships nominated Open 50 this year is the Cheshire Road Club event on 21st July, for which entries close on Tues 10th. Including this, there are still 7 events left of the series - http://www.manchesterwheelers.uk/club-events.

Don't forget only your best 8 events count toward scoring, so plenty of time for those who haven't raced yet to make their mark. There's a 100 point bonus for marshalling too, so if you haven't done so yet, don't miss out.

Current points standings are here http://www.manchesterwheelers.uk/club-10-results-2018/

Apologies for not putting these up here sooner. They have been going up on the Facebook page which seems to be the preferred communication format for most members these days.

Tomorrow is our turn to marshall again. Any offers of help, or for future events (every alternate monday), are greatly appreciated. Don't forget you get 100 bonus points for the championships if you marshall at least one event.

Club discussion / THURS 8th Feb - Social & Committee Meeting
« on: February 04, 2018, 05:50:26 PM »
This year we're planning to combine the monthly committee meetings with a social every other month and the first one is taking place this Thursday at the Lass O Gowrie on Charles St, near Oxford Rd station

Come along from 6:30 onwards for a beer. Meeting will start at 7. Plan is to keep things very informal. If you'd like to chat about getting the club rides going or helping out with any events this year, or anything else, that would be great, but If you're just curious and want to sit in that's good too. Hope to see some of you there!

Club discussion / Membership Renewal 2018
« on: January 22, 2018, 07:13:33 PM »
For those that haven't already done so, memberships are now due for renewal.

Membership renewal is now done through the British Cycling website at the following address:

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/club/profile/2606/manchester-wheelers-club

Prices remain the same as last year:

Senior: £20
Junior: £10
Family: £30 (min. 1 adult, 1 child; max 2 adults, children from one family unlimited)

When renewing please do also review the volunteer section and tick which club activities you can help with this year. We struggle with volunteers for all events and activities. If the work to run events, club rides and activities was shared between ALL members, it would make for a more active and vibrant club.

Those of you wishing to start the new year with spangly new club kit can do so via Pente at the usual link http://www.pente14.com/shop/19-manchester-wheelers and those nice chaps over at Cycle Space in Disley even have some samples on display at the shop for you to try before you buy, so go pay them a visit!

Thanks and see you all in 2018!

Club discussion / Re: AGM 11th December / Claiming Prizes
« on: December 07, 2017, 08:54:57 AM »
Reminder that the AGM will take place on Monday 11th December, from 7pm to 9pm at Manchester Velodrome.

All welcome. Especially if you are interested in getting more involved in the club by being on the committee or helping to run an event. Most of the current committee have agreed to stand again for the same roles but we'd love to see some new people get involved so if there is a role you'd like to stand for let us know. We also have 4 'general' committee roles too which is a great way to get involved without having any specific responsibilities. See the agenda for roles available.
