Club Hill Climb 2021 – Brickworks!

After a years hiatus, the Club Hill Climb is back on our good old Brickworks!

As usual, the event will decide the Club Hill Climb champion, but of course is open to all, and there will even be prizes kindly supplied by Shutt Velo and Rare Mags!

As this is often a popular event and we want to be responsible in the face of COVID, there are couple of social distancing measures to be aware of:

  1. Entry will be in advance only, via CTT here, closing 7pm the day before on the 25th. This is to minimise congregation around signing on.
  2. No pusher off
  3. Results will be announced the following day to minimise congregation afterwards
  4. And finally, where possible please try and avoid warming up / gathering around the start and finish, and arrive as close to your start time as possible!

When: Thurs 26th August 2021 (First rider 7:01pm – collect numbers by 6:45pm)

Where: The Brickworks

HQ: Pott Shrigley Village Hall (parking and toilets only)

Midweek MTB Madness – Weds 19th May

On 19th May, the club is hosting round 1 of the Midweek MTB Madness series at Kenworthy Woods (Chorlton waterpark). It’s a fantastic event and this year we’re using chip timing to minimise complications. To help make this event a success I need at least ten marshals to help out from 18:30 until 20:30. It’s always a really friendly event and I promise there will be cake and premium fizzy pop to keep you refreshed. If you can help out please send me an email at charlesdennison@aol.com and I will send out some more detailed information.

Thanks, Charles

Club 10s 2021

*** PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE USING A NEW HQ THIS YEAR *** Radnor Woods Car Park in Alderley Park, SK10 4UN which is accessed off Congleton Road near Nether Alderley. It’s a private car park with barriers and ticketing but the first two hours are free and the third hour would be £1, paid for at a machine with credit card or coins. Here is a link on Google Maps

Racing is back!

Last year it was a real shame for all of us not to be able to run our midweek club 10s. But this year they are back! Running weekly from the 3rd May every Monday, there will be a 10 mile time trial running on the J2/1 course starting in Monks heath. We will be running the events in collaboration with Stockport Clarion Cycling Club (SCCC) and take it in turns to run the event. Please see below for the exact dates.

Club 10s are perfect for anyone, for those that have never pinned a number on before to world tour pros! You can turn up on any road legal bike, whether that be a TT bike, road, fixed gear (please have a front brake), mountain bike or even a penny farthing.

No need to sign up in advance, turn up at HQ, pay £5 (cash please) and pin a number on. The first rider will be off at 7:01pm (unless stated) so please arrive at HQ before 6:45pm.

We will be sticking to the latest COVID-19 requirements from the CTT, so please familiarise yourself with the latest rules as these are sure to change in relation to the latest government advice.  (https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/articles/index/news

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us, there are no such thing as a stupid question.

As always both us and SCCC will be looking for volunteers to help with the marshalling. These events rely on volunteers so  please do lend a hand. If everyone volunteers at one event per year then we will be golden.

We are all super excited to see you!

Winter Club Kit

Hi all, hope you’re all getting the opportunity, where it pops up to get out on the bike. We’ve had a few intro and intermediate rides go up on the rides list so keep checking and feel free to put one up there is you fancy. Thanks to Chris, Alex and Tom for so far doing the honours (i’m not thanking myself, thats just weird).

Shutt VR have re-opened the portal for the winter club kit. Often it is put out that club kit is the best kit and often it’s a load of rubbish. Thankfully, the Shutt stuff is the best stuff. I’ve been riding a lot more in club kit and had the opportunity to try out the winter longs on a few rides recently and they’re beautiful. In short, follow the link and grab yourself some lovely toasty warm kit.

Keep well and keep riding.
