June 2017 - Rider of the Month
Sebastian O'Shea takes the honours this month, (a hotly contested one!), for a string of great results at Tameside - a third place and a WIN, earning himself a 3rd cat license after only a few weeks of racing. He's also dropping all the fast lads up every climb going on the club runs.
Honourable mentions also have to go to Sue Duncan Gilbert (national masters Gold in the 500m TT and sprint) and Jerry Cross (Silver in the scratch). On top of that, Colin Lynch retained his Irish paralympic TT national title. Told you it was hotly contested this month!

Right, events for this years Club Hill Climb Championship have been chosen. They are....
Tues 1st Aug - Long Hill (Buxton CC) - 7pm
Wed 9th Aug - Pyms Chair (Macc Whlrs) - 7pm
Sat 9th Sep - Brickworks (Man Whlrs) - 11am (HQ Pott Shrigley Village Hall)
All events are ‘club’ level events, which means you don’t need to enter in advance. Just turn up on the day and pay your entry fee of £3/ 4 usually. The events themselves are open to anyone, but to be eligible for the championship you must be a first claim Manchester Wheelers member. The winners of the series are the man/lady with the fastest accumulated time over all 3 events. Most importantly trophies are up for grabs, which will be awarded at the annual dinner.
For the Brickworks, we have Pott Shrigley Village Hall again as HQ (on the junction of Shrigley Rd and Bakestonedale Rd) and as an added bonus, the fastest rider on the day walks away with the legendary Brickies trophy, plucked from the heap by Hollys own hand! If anybody is available to help out for that one please let Holly or myself know.

May 2017 - Rider of the Month
Sorry this ones a bit late! May's riders of the month are Hugh English and Alan Gibworth for their sterling efforts organizing club rides and for regularly marshalling our events week after week. We really can't do what we do without people like this giving back to the club. Absolute stalwarts. Thanks guys, it's appreciated!

April 2017 - Rider of the Month
This month it's Charles Dennison for general all round awesome-ness!
Charles has had some great results the last few weeks winning the latest round of the XC national series and taking fifth from a front row start in the previous round. If that's not enough, throw in a top 10 at Tameside, regularly organizing the Thursday club rides, oh and organizing the upcoming round of MTB Madness in June (for which I'm sure he would still be grateful for volunteers!). And he does a mean pain face too. Nice one Charles!
