Coast to Coast

A couple of months ago I signed up for a silly thing called the Transcontinental. My reason being that I couldn’t think of a reason not to. Due to this I have been upping my weekly mileage and in an aim to prep did the coast to coast with Dan last week.

Initial thoughts were to go from Morecambe to Scarborough in 1 day, stay over night and then cycle back to Manchester but then we realised this would give us 1 recovery day before Buxton Mountain Time Trial, which hurts at the best of times so we cheated and did Morecambe to Scarborough in 2 days.

It’s a great route. I did the same (but to Bridlington – wayoftheroses.info/route) with my mum before I joined this club so it was nice to ride it again and think back to when I started enjoying riding my bike.

We stayed in a great shepherds hut just outside of Ripon (jelleylegs.co.uk), had a great tail wind most of the way and made it to Scarborough with time for fish and chips before catching the train. Generally cracking trip. I thoroughly recommend it!
